caring personnel. St. Francis Hospital, founded in Maryville in 1894 by
the Sisters of St. Francis, provides excellent quality health care for the
region. The hospital still under the sponsorship of the Franciscan Sisters
and its corporate parent, SSM Health Care System, maintains the philosophy
established at its founding by Mother Mary Augustine Giesen. That philosophy
is turn no one away, and it translates into providing quality
care for those in need. St. Francis Hospital was awarded the prestigious
Missouri Quality Award in 1996.
St. Francis Hospital & Health Services include an 81-bed acute care facility, emergency care facility, out-patient specialty clinics and physician clinics. The hospital employs 370 employees with twenty on-staff physicians serving the community. The hospital provides ambulatory services, emergency care, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, mammography, obstetrics, imaging, laboratory services, physical therapy, orthopedic surgery, out-patient specialty clinics, sports medicine and mental health services. It has state of the art equipment in MRI, nuclear medicine and echocardiography housed in a recently developed part of the hospital. Nodaway County Ambulance Service along with Maryville public safety rescue squad provides emergency medical aid through the county-wide emergency telephone number. SSM Home Care/Hospice of NW Missouri provides in-home
health care and Additional health care needs in Maryville are met by five dentists, four chiropractors, four optometrists, one oculist, five nursing homes and home health care agencies. Maryville promotes a high quality of life through its emphasis on wellness and excellent health care. Maryville has four fitness/exercise facilities and one aerobic exercise and training center available to the fee paying public. Water aerobic classes and exercises are available at the Foster Aquatic Center on the Northwest Missouri State University campus. |
