Home Sweet Home
"You essentially get the best of both worlds when you live in Murray-Calloway County..."

In 1989, Murray was named by Rand McNally as one of the best places to retire in the United States, based on food and health care costs, housing, property tax rates, climate, personal safety, services, and leisure activities. Since that time, people have been migrating to Murray and Calloway County to set up residence. "Murray can offer so much to so many different people," says Twilla Williams, Executive Officer of the Murray-Calloway County Board of Realtors. "We have several fabulous neighborhoods that can fit the needs of families just starting out or retirees who are needing a specific type of space. The options are plentiful for the consumer looking for a home in Murray."

"The interest rates are still hanging around in the low area, which is great for the buyer and the seller," Williams adds. "This area has many options available for potential buyers. We are centrally located and provide a small–town atmosphere that is within driving distance of several major metropolitan cities."

"You essentially get the best of both worlds when you live in Murray- Calloway County," Williams asserts.

The city's natural attractions are a draw as well. "Potential buyers like that the area is close to the lakes," Williams notes. "Access to recreational facilities is important to many people. People like places where they can unwind and relax."

"The fact that we have a major university in town also makes this area attractive to many different folks," Williams observes.

A wide variety of housing prices and styles are available, including farms with acreage, waterfront properties, country estates, renovated historical homes and condominiums.

The median sale price of homes in Kentucky is significantly below the national average; the median sale price of homes in Murray is currently an affordable $75,925. Among other benefits to buyers are the low cost of property taxes, economical utility rates and an abundance of choices. Murray offers approximately seven different realty companies with 44 realtors ready to assist potential homebuyers with their needs.

"If you are new to the area, or if you have lived here for years and are looking to make a change, give us a call," Williams says. "Our realtors can help you find everything from a starter home to an executive mansion."
